Instructions
  1. Put the yogurt on a strainer / muslin cloth for 15 mins to remove the excess water.
  2. Marinate fish with salt. Heat oil in a pan and fry fish till golden brown on both sides. Fry at medium flame and when done remove from pan.
  3. Crush cinnamon, cardamom and clove. In the remaining oil add bay leaf, crushed spices and slitted green chillies. Saute for 8-10 secs.
  4. Add grated onion and fry till translucent, then add ginger & garlic paste and salt. Fry till the onions turn soft and golden brown.
  5. Add 3-4 tablespoon of hot water and mix. Add fried fish and cook  till water evaporates. Switch off the flame.
  6. Add beaten yogurt and mix well. Check seasoning and adjust as per preference (never boil after adding yogurt else the gravy will curdle).
  7. Serve with steamed rice.
